Medical absorbent cotton is made from the hair of mature seeds of cottonseed, mallow family, by removing inclusions, degreasing, bleaching and processing.It is mainly used for clinical dressing in hospitals.

The requirements, test methods, inspection rules, labeling, packaging, transportation and storage of medical absorbent cotton conform to the National standard YY0330-2015 for medical absorbent cotton:

1/ character:Medical absorbent cotton should be soft and elastic white fiber, without color spot, stain and foreign body, odorless, tasteless.

2/ white degree:The whiteness of medical absorbent cotton should not be less than 80 degrees.

3/ Soluble in water:Residue should be less than 0.5% in 100mL test solution.

4/ the PH:Phenolphthalein indicator and bromocresol violet indicator could not show pink in 100mL test solution.

5/ Easy oxide:Adding potassium permanganate to 40mL test solution cannot completely disappear the red color.

6/ Water absorption time:Medical absorbent cotton should be sunk below the liquid level within 10S.

7 /water quantity:Water absorption per gram sample should not be less than 23g.

8/The soluble substance in ethers:Residue should be less than 0.5% in 100 mL test solution.

9/ the fluorescent material:Only microscopic brown-purple fluorescence and a few yellow particles can be observed in medical absorbent cotton under ultraviolet light, except for a few isolated fibers, no strong blue fluorescence can be observed.

10/ Dry weight loss:2g medical absorbent cotton was dried to constant weight, and the weight loss should not exceed 8.0%.

11/ Burning residue:2g of medical absorbent cotton was dried to a constant weight, and the residual residue in the test product should not be more than 0.5%.

12/Surface active substance:The surface active substance foam in the test solution shall not exceed 2mm.

13/ sterile:Medical cotton products supplied aseptically should undergo an approved sterilization process.
