Do these clients lose contact during Ramadan?
Not absolutely, but during Ramadan these clients work shorter hours, usually from 9am to 2pm, don’t try to develop clients during this time because they don’t spend their time reading development letters. It is worth noting that local banks will only be closed during Eid and will not be open during other times. To avoid customers using this as an excuse to delay payment, they can urge customers to pay the balance before the arrival of Ramadan.

What are the DOS and don ‘ts around Ramadan?
If you want to ensure that your goods can arrive at the destination on time, please be sure to pay attention to Ramadan, arrange the transport of goods in advance, the following three links should pay special attention to foreign trade!

1. Shipment

It would be best for goods to arrive at their destination around the end of Ramadan, so as to coincide with the holiday of Eid al-Fitr, the peak of the Muslim spending boom.

For goods shipped during Ramadan, please remember to inform customers of booking space in advance, confirm details of bill of lading with customers in advance, and confirm details of customs clearance documents and requirements with customers in advance. In addition, remember to apply for 14-21 days free container period from the shipping company at the time of shipment, and also apply for free container period if allowed by some routes.

The goods that are not in a hurry can be shipped at the end of Ramadan. Because the working hours of government agencies, customs, ports, freight forwarders and other enterprises are shortened during Ramadan, the approval and decision of some documents may be delayed until after Ramadan, and the overall limitation is difficult to control. Therefore, try to avoid this time period if possible.

2. About LCL

Before Ramadan comes, a large number of goods are loaded into the warehouse, and the loading volume increases sharply. Many customers want to deliver the goods before Ramadan. Take Middle Eastern ports as an example, it generally takes more than 30 days for bulk cargo to be put into storage, so bulk cargo should be put into storage as early as possible. If the best warehousing opportunity is missed, but the delivery must be forced by the delivery pressure, it is suggested that the goods with high value be transferred to air transportation.

3. About transit

During Ramadan, the working hours are reduced to half a day and the dockworkers are not allowed to eat or drink during the day, which reduces the strength of dockworkers and slows down the processing of goods. Therefore, the processing capacity of the destination and transit ports is greatly weakened. In addition, the phenomenon of cargo congestion is more obvious in the peak season of shipping, so the operation time of the wharf will be much longer during this period, and the situation that the cargo cannot go on the second leg will increase gradually. In order to reduce losses, it is recommended to track the cargo dynamics anytime and anywhere to avoid unnecessary losses caused by dumping or delaying the cargo at the transit port.

At the end of this article, please send the Ramadan wishes. Please do not confuse the Ramadan wishes with the Eid wishes. The word “Ramadan Kareem” is used during Ramadan, and the word “Eid Mubarak” is used during Eid.
